In Kancheepuram of Tamilnad there is a Siva temple dedicated to Kasyapeswar temple. In this temple there is a strange system of worship done during the Sundays of Tamil month of Karthikai (November - December). On these Sundays the devotees carry a 'Maavilakku' (a lamp made of baked flour with depressions made for oil to burn the lamp) in mud pans. This lamp will be filled with oil and wicks and then lighted. The devotees carry the mud pans with the flour lamps on their head and do pradikshan (circumlocution) around the temple. This worship or offering is known as 'Mandiavilakku' (Mandai means head and vilakku means lamp) prarthana. The devotees with head problems, if offer this mandaivilakku worship can expect cure of their problems related to the head.
